Study Supports Viral Origin for Some ALL
Newborns with cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection had almost a fourfold increase in the risk of developing acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) as compared with uninfected infants, investigators reported.

A comparison of blood samples from children with ALL and a healthy control group showed that the ALL group was 3.71 times more likely to have in utero exposure to CMV.
