The Uttarakhand health department has directed its doctors to issue prescriptions for generic medicine in triplicate, in line with standard practice in western countries and in process becoming the 1st state in India to do so.

Under this system, The doctors will keep one copy of the prescription, give one to the patient and one to the pharmacist. These prescriptions will be presented to a team of experts for scrutiny in case of an audit...

In view of wastage of so much of paper, why don' t the Dept of Health Govt of Uttarakhand develops an Electronic Medical Report System (EMRS) for everything ... be it Prescription or Investigation reports or drug delivery by Pharmacist etc. Just keep it Simple @ 90' s old folks????

Our PM advocates paperless and cashless transactions with minimum governance and maximum results. We have CMs doing the opposite. What objective will be achieved by such a waste of time and money?. Doctors are soft targets, others will jump in to such populist measures.
