Uttarakhand Medical Council (UMC) has temporarily suspended the registration of three doctors for unethical practices and for violating the code of ethics of the medical profession.

In a case 6 months ago, the doctor did not inform the police or conduct a post mortem after an accident victim died. When complaints were received from the relatives, UMC could not even find basic medical records of the patients and thus found the doctor negligent.

The second of the three doctors had sent a different candidate in the Diplomate of National Board examination. While the candidate was barred for six years from appearing in the DNB examination, the doctor served imprisonment.

The third doctor had advertised himself receiving an award from the President of India. According to rules, no medical practitioner can put up his or her picture as an advertisement.

UMC has suspended the registration of one doctor for a year while the other two face six months suspension each.
