World Leprosy day is being observed today in India, coinciding with death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated on this day in 1948.
30th January was chosen by French humanitarian Raoul Follereau as a tribute to the Mahatma Gandhi who had a lifelong compassion for people affected by leprosy.
