LifeCell becomes India's top cord blood stem cell registry
Just within four months of its launch, LifeCell has become India's biggest cord blood stem cell registry. It has over 5,000 qualified units of cord blood available for sharing, which is more than the collective number of cord blood units preserved with public banks in India. LifeCell has features of both a public and private bank- the open access of a public bank and the resources of a private bank, which has helped it expand.

It now plans to give every patient access to a well-matched cord blood unit vital for a life-saving transplant, through its hi-resolution sequencing of HLA typing which provides better matching chances. In a country like India where over 70% of patients requiring donor stem cells are not attended to, LifeCell has provided a ray of hope.
