Malignant otitis externa
A 48yr old female who is diabetic from last 10yrs c/o ear discharge from last 9 months, recently started c/o deviation of mouth & difficulty in closure of eye. After evaluation patient findings so obtained were... 1)red odematous appearance the tympanic membrane with perforation in anterosuperior quadrant. Mastoiditis was considered as a diagnosis.Ear discharge was sent for culture sensitivity which came out to be pseudomonas +ve. But p/t didn't responded to antipseudomonal drugs like gentamycin etc. p/t then underwent surgery which help her to get rid of discharge. There is still some facial nerve palsy for which pt is on follow up.
